Days of our lives

Mel continues to stay busy with her school work and partime school job, not to mention her duty to our local church. She manages to sing and play guitar every first Sunday of the month with her dad.
I, on the other hand(thank God) try to make it to work daily no matter what. It's sad that we hardly see each other during the week due to our weird schedules. This week was again another thriller. No eight hours for me not by choice but by need. We are still short of help and another RN quits not to mention others that are on vacation, sick etc., etc. Baptist must be the favorite place to get sick at more so to get cut at.

Friday the 13th seemed to be a bad day for a lot of us. A young female surgeon was pronounced brain dead after allegedly swallowing some anti-freeze, then moments later we heard that one of our good anesthesiologists' wife died and she was young with young kids. Bless her and their family. Life is too short people, let's love and show love every chance we get.

We got a new riding mower but can't use it yet due to frequent rain, HA HA HA. I do have a lot of pictures to post if only I can find my daughter to teach me how and if I can find time to do it.

My life goes like this. Monday I work early morning as early as 5:30 if I have an early heart then God only knows when I get off at times 7 or 8pm. sometimes no lunch or most of the time lunch at 2:00. that's my life till Friday oh I forgot to mention my on-call 3-11 and 11-7 heart call. I can't wait till June for my vacation.

I love my job, don't get me wrong but I really wish I could go on per diem soon when I can enjoy life better and be with my loved ones longer... God's will be done...not mine. for now I pray God gives me good health and strenght.

i love everybody.

Holy Thursday, bad Friday

Hello

Thursday, I was assigned to do 3 back to back vascular cases, 3pm no sign of relief, as usual I was begged to stay over and as usual I said OK. I helped one of the 3-11 nurses do the last vascular case until almost 6:30pm then made my usual rounds and I saw a patient who was being pumped on the chest, I went in to help we got him back I started inserting the arterial line, i saw his scar on his chest he already had a bypass I made my usual role thank God I was there because the doctor could not remember the dosage of an emergency drip and because of my experience as a vascular nurse i was able to tell him real fast.
Patient just underwent an appendectomy laparoscopy and as they moved him to the recovery stretcher his heart stopped. The good news? he survived. I left late as usual.

Bad Friday:
Schedule looked light. I worked 3-11 charge nurse, checked in at 2:26pm, still on my street clothes the day crew charge nurse met me with a report, a bad one so and so has not eaten etc....an emergency heart going on and I looked at the board and saw all RED writings that meant add ons. I said okay, I only have 1 scrub tech and 1 RN. The heart crew wanted to leave early as it was a holiday all rooms in shamble and more. The heart patient was bleeding but we could not give blood b/c he's a jehovas witness so we assembled a special drain so he automatically gets his own blood. we finally took him to ICU then shortly after that I was paged for the 4th time since I arrived, 2 doctors ready for their cases. Got them out of the way but not that easy.
These things were going on but I managed to clear some rooms out hoping I could leave on time or earlier as I wanted to watch Pope Benedict's mass on tv. Phone rang the Jehova's witness patient needed to be re-opened as he was bleeding bad and pressure goind down but there was only one anesthesia and he was still on a case therefore we had to wait. It was past nine when we wheeled him back to OR I didn't have a heart tech so I had to call the on call out. Forty minutes later we were closing his chest. The Heart room was a mess and I knew I was assigned to do 2 bypasses Monday so I put the room back together which is not an easy task.
My staff and I left past midnight. I was still able to pray and watched the Pope and went to bed at 3am in the nurse's lounge for I was too sleepy to drive home.I woke up freezing and took cold pills.

Saturday I napped and washed clothes cleaned etc.
Sunday went to church and to bed while I did continue cleaning and drying clothes. I have a very interesting life as you can tell with my stories. These things go on and on. I am excited to go visit Moosie and Jason in Austin in June but I hope to make it to the shower.

Our new priest(Fa.Joe's)first palm sunday in the US of A

Hello,

Today being the first sunday of the month as always was a youth mass. mel and uncle Hermie woke up early to practice with the rest of the kids. Sister sionie and I sat in same pew. We were waiting, prayed and an announcement was made that father was a little bit delayed. We prayed more and sister and I shared few chats quietly now and then. Father came read the gospel then told us to get up and exit through the main entrance so he could bless the palms and one by one hand it to us. He requested that the choir sang as he gave everybody a leaf until they almost ran out of songs to sing as nobody expected he would do such.
May God forgive me but during the reading of The Passion he would also read the narrator's part. He comes from India and this is his first time in the state. Somebody had to teach him how to drive from St.Mary to St.Martin and vice versa. We all got worried the first time he drove by himself for it took him half an hour to get back to St. Mary for our 11 o'clock mass. I'm grateful thou for we finally have a pastor after being orphaned for several months.
We have a very good youth choir Fa. Joe said so. We even gave them a hand.
